BarCamp Texas
The Creative Space hosted BarCamp Texas on January 26th in downtown Bryan, Texas. BarCamp is an “unconference” for tech-creative types. It’s free and there are no set times or speakers. Everyone just shows up on the day of the event and fills in a white board grid with 30 minute time slots. People gave presentations on design, podcasting, urban redevelopment, CSS framework, online security, user testing, and various software applications.
It was a great success, we had over 150 people show up (most of them from out of town). Always Creative flew in Eric Downs from Omaha, Nebraska. Eric escaped very low temperatures and spent the weekend with us. We contract work out to him whenever we need great looking print work fast.
Roby gave a presentation on design that has stirred up some work for us.

Roby also designed the BarCamp Texas t-shirt. It was fun to see everyone around town wearing the shirt.

We met some great people, two of which were twins from Dallas that own a company called Markup Ninjas. Always Creative actually designed their website. We send work back and forth with the Markup Ninjas, they are definitely going to be blowing up (in a good way) real soon.
All in all, BarCamp Texas was a major success, fun was had by all, and it was a great place to network. Check out some pictures of the event taken by Michael Cummings (a fellow Creative Space resident) below.
